Is Low Back Pain a Daily Struggle?
If so we want to tell you about the most common mistakes we see when it comes to managing low back pain.
The most common mistakes we see managing low back pain
Mistake #1
Ignoring it. It never ceases to amaze me how many people think that ignoring their back pain is a solution. Simply put, it’s not! In most cases, it’s likely to get worse if you ignore it.
Mistake #2
The second biggest mistake we see with back pain is poor posture. Poor posture leads to tight and weak muscles and a poorly supported spine.
Mistake #3
The third mistake that we see has to do with manual handling and by this we mean lifting or moving things incorrectly. This can be lifting things that are heavy, or can simply be lifting or moving something really light incorrectly. The thing is, if you’re not using the correct manual handling technique then this very quickly leads to injury.
Manual handling injuries can be really nasty. They can catch you by surprise because it doesn’t have to be heavy lifting to cause injury.
Mistake #4
If you have weak core muscles it can lead to having a bad foundation for your body to work from. We call this the ‘floppy flag pole syndrome’. It means that you’re really strong at the top but you have a a really weak base. The problem with this is you can easily pick up an injury. Much like it’s really easy for a ‘floppy pole’ to fall over and get damaged in a storm.
So there is our top 4 mistakes when it comes to low back pain – are you guilty?!
